Superstar Shakeup Recap

48 Hours have passed and we have the final results of the Superstar Shakeup. Let’s see how we fared by what we got right, wrong, and who were the surprises we did not expect.

What We Got Right

Balor Club goes to Smackdown

Well, just 2/3 of the group. We predicted that the Good Brothers, Finn included, would move to Smackdown. Well, we were slightly right, because Finn Balor did not come to Smackdown. Only the Good Brothers Gallows and Anderson did. This might also mean that AJ Styles might be getting some backup against Shinsuke Nakamura.

The Miz goes to Smackdown Live

Perhaps the most anticipated transfer, Daniel Bryan and Miz’s rivalry suddenly reignited when it was announced that Bryan had been cleared to wrestle. Now with the Miz back in the Blue Brand, we can’t wait to see what’s next for these two.

The Charismatic Enigma moves to Tuesday Nights

Here’s another one we got right. Jeff Hardy moving to Smackdown. He had a lot of success during his solo run, proving that he is world championship material. Not only that, he brought the United States Championship with him. That means we still have Monday Night Rollins.

Hardy going back to Tuesday nights will help elevate the veteran’s star potentially for a final run. At age 40, Jeff Hardy is no spring chicken, and it would be nice to see him face off against the younger members of the roster.

#RAWisGLORIOUS

Well, we did alright with this one. Bobby Roode was going bland on Smackdown and moving to Monday Nights will only help him from here. All he needs is to become the IT Factor, a villain, once again.

Bayley & Asuka to Smackdown (Only Asuka moved)

This one was sort of right only. Asuka finally moved to Smackdown by saving Becky Lynch & Charlotte from a 3 on 2 beatdown. It just makes too much sense. The Empress has come to conquer anew and it begins on the Blue Brand.

What We Got Wrong

The New Day returns to Raw

Nope, didn’t happen. This is a good thing, however, as the Smackdown tag team division has gotten a few solid acquisitions.

The Four Horsewomen stay put

Bayley didn’t move either. Neither did Charlotte nor Becky. The biggest surprise, however, was Rusev not moving to Raw. This means they might still have some more plans for him in the near future.

Braun to Smackdown

Well, this did not happen either. This was more of a fantasy but, we can dream, can’t we?

KAMI SPLITS UP

I’m actually surprised they weren’t split up. Kevin and Sami were bound to be separated by now but, it looks we will see more of the duo’s antics on Raw.

Surprises

Fashion Police and The Ascension to Raw

There’s no other way to put it, but Breezango needed this move. They’re too good to be wasted by not being featured on air. Look at what they did to The Bar after giving them more time to shine. Expect the return of Fashion Files, and maybe a tag title shot.

Oh! And not shockingly, The Ascension followed Breezango Raw. That means #RAWisGLUTENFREE

Samoa Joe to Smackdown

Well, talk about a TNA Reunion. Samoa Joe on Smackdown provides a plethora of match options. He could face Nakamura, Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy. Having him on the roster just adds to the number of potential quality matches that we might see soon.

El Idolo & Zelina Vega

After his impressive showings against Johnny Gargano (which garnered a 5-star rating) and Aleister Black on NXT, it was time for El Idolo to move on up and make the Blue Brand his home. I for one can’t wait to see what he can do. We won’t be surprised if he ends up in the US Title picture earlier than expected.

The Bar to Smackdown

This. This was a big surprise for me. Knowing that they have a Raw Tag Team Title match makes me wonder if The Bar may lose in Jeddah now. Despite this, their move gives Smackdown a very deep and entertaining tag team division that is bound to create some big moments. One more thing. Don’t mind the terrible graphics.

Sanity without Nikki Cross

This was the biggest surprise for me. How could you not have one of the original members of Sanity as part of the main roster move? I have a feeling that Nikki Cross is needed on NXT and will have a similar path to the IIconics. With Sanity finally in the main roster, expect Eric Young, Killian Dain, and Alexander Wolfe to wreak some chaos over at Smackdown.

Drew Mcintyre Appears!

Well, this was the biggest shocker. Everyone expected Drew McIntyre to return to NXT and take back the title he lost but now, he’s teaming up with Dolph Ziggler on Monday Nights. Let’s wait and see how this goes. Also with him, Jinder Mahal, and Heath Slater on Raw, maybe a 3MB reunion can be in the books.

Big Cass Returns

Another unexpected move, Big Cass has returned after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out for months. Now that he’s part of Smackdown, and forming an alliance with Shinsuke Nakamura, it seems that they would like to have him competing in the main event card ASAP.

Who won the Shakeup?

After gaining solid mid-card to main event talent, and bolstering both their women’s and tag team division significantly, Smackdown definitely takes the cake in this year’s Shakeup. These new additions are shaping up to help Smackdown become a show that produces must-see matches on a weekly basis.
