Sonic The Hedgehog Trailer Initial Thoughts

No words can describe this trailer. All I can tell you is to watch it.

Uuuuuuhhh…

The upcoming Sonic The hedgehog movie trailer just came out and, well, I can’t think of anything positive to say here. Sure, the callback to the Sega Genesis was nice. However, the placement of the phrase felt so forced. Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik is interesting to say the least.

Using Gangster’s Paradise does not make any sense in the current context. What the heck does Sonic look like? His face looks fine but, what happened to his body? Anyway, that’s enough talk for now. My expectations are unbelievably low for this film compared to a movie like Detective Pikachu. Don’t forget. This is the same studio that gave us the Last Airbender.

Simply put, don’t get your hopes up.

UPDATE May 12: Looks like SEGA listened to the fans. We’re getting a redesign of Sonic for the movie. However, this begs the question of whether or not the artists are getting paid? We may see this as a victory but, a lot of staff may be forced to redesign a project that was a year in the making into a project to be completed within several months.
